The CAMRT-AB Advisory Council offers expertise and support to the CAMRT Board of Directors and staff regarding issues relating to MRT practice and provincial member services in Alberta. It is a critical voice in representing MRTs, assessing member needs in areas such as continuing professional development, advocacy, social events, awards and member recognition. Christina Abbadi-MacIntosh, MRT(T),
Role: Clinical Educator, Arthur JE Child Cancer Centre
Calgary, Alberta

Christina is an MRT(T) with 20 years of experience in Radiation Therapy. Over the course of her career, she has held multiple clinical radiation therapy roles and currently serves as a Clinical Educator. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is passionate about professional development, clinical excellence, and advancing the role of Radiation Therapists within Alberta. In her current role, she is dedicated to fostering safe learning environments, supporting skill development, and promoting evidence-informed practice. She facilitates eSIM sessions to enhance clinical decision-making, communication, and patient safety, and is committed to building confidence and competence within the MRT(T) profession. Christina actively contributes to departmental process improvement initiatives, supporting the development and standardization of clinical workflows, educational programming, and quality practices to promote consistency and excellence in patient care. She has also contributed to education initiatives including teaching Basic Life Support and mentoring learners in clinical practice. She is particularly interested in advancing provincial standardization and enhancing the professional growth and recognition of MRT’s across Alberta. Christina is excited to contribute to the CAMRT-AB Advisory Council and looks forward to supporting initiatives that strengthen the profession, promote collaboration across the province, and uphold excellence in patient care.

Susan Fawcett, MRT(T), BSc, MA
Role: Senior Program Director, University of Alberta
Edmonton, Alberta

Susan is the program director of the Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy Program in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta where she holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Oncology. Susan has a baccalaureate degree in radiography (therapeutic path) and a master’s degree in health leadership and education. Susan has held numerous radiation therapist and professional practice positions in British Columbia and Alberta. She is a passionate advocate for evidence-informed best practices, person and family focused care and advancing medical radiation sciences practice. Susan is an enthusiastic promoter of research, education, and innovation by encouraging a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning. Susan has served as the elected Alberta Director on the board of directors of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). She continues to participate in a variety of roles on numerous committees for the CAMRT. In addition, she participates on various provincial government, professional association, and university committees.

Kendall Forrester, MRT(R)
Role: Medical Radiation Technologist, Alberta Children’s Hospital
Calgary, Alberta

Kendall is an internationally trained Medical Radiation technologist having completed her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Minneapolis, MN. She holds a dual certification as a registered American Registry of Radiologic Technologist RT (R)(CT)(VI) and a CAMRT RT (R) CTIC CIR.  In 2016 she completed a Bachelor of Health Science from Thompson River University and is a strong advocate for education. She currently works as a Interventional Radiologic and Computed Tomography Technologist in Pediatrics at Alberta Children’s Hospital and casually, in IR at Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Center. Kendall has previously worked as a Research Technologist  from 2021-2023 at the University of Calgary, with the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging. Kendall volunteers with several committees within the CAMRT advocating for education and research. Kendall is excited to be joining the Advisory Council to help  facilitate the development of future technologists in the health care field.

Joanna Foster, MRT(T)
Role: Radiation Therapist III, Arthur JE Child Cancer Centre
Calgary, AB

Joanna currently holds a position as a Radiation Therapist III at the Arthur JE Child Cancer Centre in Calgary. She has nearly 20 years of experience in Radiation Therapy, having trained and worked in Brisbane, Australia, and later in Toronto, Ontario, and Bristol, UK, before settling in Calgary seven years ago. Over the past five years, she served as the RT lead for the launch of the MR Linac and MR simulation programs and was a member of the local MR Safety Committee. She has also overseen numerous large- and small-scale process improvements in the areas she leads, collaborating with frontline staff, multidisciplinary teams, provincial groups, and vendors to ensure programs meet best practice benchmarks and maintain a culture of safety. Joanna has participated in the university applicant review process and aims to continue promoting and contributing to local research initiatives. Outside of work, Joey enjoys swing dancing, snowboarding, hiking, and travelling whenever life allows. She is passionate about the scope of radiation therapists and the evolving role they play in healthcare. She is particularly excited about MR technology integration and new advanced practice roles. Joining the CAMRT-AB advisory committee is an exciting opportunity to help shape this future and strengthen the profession.

Tony Pham, MRT(R), RTMR
Role: Medical Radiation Technologist, CAMIS
Red Deer, AB

Tony is a MRT with over 13 years of multi-modality experience in Vietnam across radiography, fluoroscopy, bone mineral densitometry (BMD), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). For more than two years, he has been practicing in Alberta and currently works as an MRT(R) with Central Alberta Medical Imaging Services (CAMIS) in Red Deer. Tony is a CAMRT-certified MRT and a member of the CAMRT Observational Job Shadowing (OJS) Taskforce, supporting internationally educated MRTs in their transition to Canadian practice. He is currently pursuing MRI certification and is committed to continuous learning, mentorship, and strengthening the MRT profession in Alberta

 

Stacey Purdy, MRT(R), MRT(MR)
Role: Research MRI Technologist, Centre for Mobility and Joint Health (MoJo), University of Calgary
Calgary, AB

Stacey is a research MRI Technologist at the Centre for Mobility and Joint Health (MoJo) within the McCaig Institute, part of the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. In addition, she works casually in MRI at Mayfair Diagnostics, in CT with AHS, and as a MRI Assessor for the CPSA. With over 20 years of diverse experience, she has worked across hospitals, private clinics, research facilities, and even in veterinary imaging. Originally from Ontario, Stacey relocated to Calgary in 2003. In her spare time, she and her husband can be found cheering on their daughters at the hockey rink, volleyball court, or at the ball diamonds. She also loves hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Stacey is excited to join the CAMRT-AB Advisory Council and is eager to advocate for Alberta’s MRI technologists.

Dacia Richmond, MRT(NM), BSc
Role: Executive Director and Registrar, College of Alberta Denturists
Edmonton, AB

In Dacia’s clinical years as a nuclear medicine technologist, she worked mostly in Edmonton at the Cross Cancer Institute in nuclear medicine including PET, radioisotope therapy and research. In 2011, she made the move into health regulation and has worked at a couple Colleges in Alberta, most recently, in 2019, being appointed as the Executive Director, Registrar, and Complaints Director for the College of Alberta Denturists. Always wanting to maintain a connection to medical radiation technology, Dacia has volunteered in various capacities with CAMRT over the years and is really looking forward to her work on the CAMRT-AB Advisory Board.

Neela Velji,  MRT(NM)
Role: Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Misericordia Community Hospital
Edmonton, AB

Neela Velji is a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist with 14 years of experience in the Edmonton area. Neela brings to the advisory council a unique perspective as she has worked in both public and private healthcare settings, gaining extensive expertise across various departments. In addition to her clinical work, Neela holds a Radiation Safety Officer designation and has contributed to global healthcare initiatives as a RAD-AID Nuclear Medicine Volunteer Technologist. She is also a proud graduate of the CAMRT Leadership Development Institute, reflecting her commitment to continuous growth and leadership in the field.
