Melissa Burnett, RTNM, RTMR 

Melissa has worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for 16 years and an MRI Technologist for the past 8, gaining experience in both hospital and private clinic settings. Her diverse background has given her a deep appreciation for the essential work MRTs do across the healthcare system.

Passionate about connection and collaboration, Melissa is eager to support the MRT community through her involvement with CAMRT-SK. She values opportunities to share ideas, learn from others, and strengthen the profession province-wide. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys time at the lake with her family and two dogs—boating, making s’mores, and relaxing by the water.

Rebecca Friesen, RTR 

Rebecca is a proud graduate of the SIAST Medical Radiologic Technology Program (2009). After more than a decade working in X-ray, CT, and mammography at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, she returned to Saskatchewan Polytechnic, where she now serves as Program Head of the MRT program.

With a strong foundation in clinical practice and a passion for teaching, Rebecca is dedicated to shaping the next generation of technologists. Soon to be an empty nester, she enjoys life in Warman, SK with her husband and two dogs, Linus and Dolce. In her spare time, she loves quilting and exploring her creative side. Rebecca looks forward to collaborating with MRTs across the province to advance the profession and highlight their essential role in patient care.

Matt Malach, RTMR

Matthew is a highly experienced healthcare professional with 17 years of service across Saskatchewan. He began his career as a Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist, serving various rural communities before specializing in MRI in 2017. Currently, Matthew provides expert care as an MRI Technologist for the Saskatchewan Health Authority, working at both City Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon.

Mary Rafferty, RTR

Mary has been an MRT in Saskatchewan since 2012, working in Mammography at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw. She has served on multiple SAMRT committees over six years, including two terms as President during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mary currently sits on the CAMRT CBI Committee, now in her second term. Originally trained and practiced in Ireland, she brings an international perspective and a passion for ongoing education and professional advancement—both of which guide her vision for the future of medical imaging in Saskatchewan.

Brittany Sparwood, RTR

Brittany is a Medical Radiation Technologist based at the Weyburn General Hospital. She completed her MRT education in North Dakota and has been practicing for 14 years.

An enthusiastic advocate for her profession and community, Brittany is passionate about mentorship and volunteerism. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, traveling, and sampling new foods wherever she goes.

Jacquie Turley, RTR

Born and raised near Outlook, Saskatchewan, Jacquie completed her MRT training at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in 2012 after earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Saskatchewan and teaching English abroad in Southeast Asia. She began her career as an X-ray technologist in Regina and Saskatoon before specializing in Interventional Radiology at St. Paul’s Hospital, where she developed a strong interest in advancing technologist scope of practice and leadership. Jacquie earned her Master’s in Healthcare Leadership from Royal Roads University in 2021 and has since held roles as a Medical Imaging Manager at Royal University Hospital and, currently, as a Clinical Specialist with Medtronic in the Aortic, Neurovascular, and Peripheral Vascular division.

Jacquie lives in Saskatoon with her partner, Dustyn, along with two cats and a dog. She enjoys Formula 1, concerts, travel, cooking, and reading, and is thrilled to support Saskatchewan MRTs through her role on the Advisory Council.

Jordan Vercaigne, RTT

Jordan is a seasoned healthcare professional and the Radiation Therapy Manager at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Originally trained in Winnipeg, he has built a robust career across the Prairies, gaining extensive leadership experience in Edmonton and with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

With a background spanning clinical mentorship, provincial imaging standards, and MRI/CT operations, Jordan brings a comprehensive, system-level perspective to medical radiation technology. Jordan remains a lifelong learner and a fierce advocate for the multidisciplinary teams that drive Saskatchewan’s medical imaging and radiation therapy sectors.

Andrea Wilyman, RTT

Andrea is a Radiation Therapist at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, where she has worked since 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences and is currently pursuing a Master of Health Administration. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys camping and hiking with her dog, Billie, and spending time with her niece and nephews. She’s excited to contribute her knowledge and energy to the CAMRT-SK Advisory Council and support the continued growth of the profession.

Site Ambassadors are a network of medical radiation technologists at different workplaces across Saskatchewan who share a desire to inform and engage the membership through local activities and discussion. Site Ambassadors serve a critical role as a key contact between the CAMRT-SK Provincial Manager and the membership of Saskatchewan. Your involvement as a Site Ambassador will be personally and professionally rewarding as well as contributing to the strength of the MRT membership in Saskatchewan.

Our goal is to have a Site Ambassador at every work site across Saskatchewan.

Expected commitment:

Your time commitment for this role is your choice. Working with the Provincial Manager of CAMRT-SK, you will be supported to be as involved as you wish to be.

Term: Initial commitment is for a one-year term renewable by mutual agreement year to year.

CAMRT-SK is seeking a passionate nuclear medicine MRT to complete the inaugural CAMRT-SK Advisory Council. Help advise on critical issues and priority areas for member services and initiatives in Saskatchewan. Term: 1 or 2 years.

The Advisory Council provides advice and support to CAMRT staff and Board of Directors regarding issues relating to MRT practice and provincial member services in Saskatchewan. The Advisory Council is comprised of members from each of the four disciplines and is geographically and clinically diverse.

The council functions under the guidance of the Provincial Manager for Saskatchewan. Meetings are held face to face once or twice annually (typically spring and fall). Meetings may be held virtually, if needed.

As an advisory member, you will be a critical voice in representing MRTs in the province, assessing member needs in areas such as advocacy, outreach, education, and member recognition. Please view the Council’s Terms of Reference.

Applicant is:

• current member of CAMRT-SK
• has the certification of RTNM and currently practicing in nuclear medicine
• from any location within Saskatchewan (urban and rural locations)
• available for two meetings per year, as described above
