CAMRT-ATL Interviewed on CBC Television and Radio about Ongoing Radiation Therapy Shortages

CAMRT-ATL was interviewed by the CBC in Nova Scotia about ongoing shortages of Radiation Therapists in the region. With the Government of Nova Scotia’s decision to not fund a Radiation Therapy education program at Dalhousie University, the supply to Nova Scotia and other Atlantic provinces is limited. Demand is increasing with no long term plan in sight. This affects the MRTs in departments, dealing with the mental and emotional turmoil of these shortages, and it compromises timely access to cancer care.

With other Atlantic Canadian provinces willing to help fund this regional program, the Nova Scotia government becomes the roadblock. We encourage all MRTs in Nova Scotia to write their MLA, alerting them to this news coverage, and encourage them to change the mind of the Premier and Treasury Board.
