Purpose of the Program
The Certificate in Breast Imaging – Screening (CBIS) program is designed to provide knowledge and demonstrated clinical competence recognized by a credential. MRTs who perform breast imaging procedures have a special role in the healthcare of the public and must be highly competent practitioners excelling in their ability to produce quality images and to manage the patient with care and technical expertise.
There is a didactic (coursework) and clinical portion of the program. You must actively opt-in and register to each element. The purpose of the clinical component, called the Summary of Clinical Competence (SCC), is to allow the technologist to record procedures performed under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Advisor (CA) that attests to the technologist’s competence in the performance the competencies. Programs are updated annually and all details are in the certificate Handbook – please carefully read it before registration. The following is an overview of the Certificate in Interventional Radiology program. For detailed information, download the Program Handbook.
