Exam accommodation aims to remove barriers that might disadvantage a candidate on the exam because of a disability or medical condition, or another protected characteristic. Accommodation provides the candidate an equitable opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge; it does not remove requirements or alter the content of an exam.

An exam accommodation might be for you if you have a medical reason or disability that might make writing the certification exam difficult without accommodation. We strongly recommend that you seek accommodation upon registering for an exam, if you feel this applies to you.

Please review CAMRT’s Certification Exam Accommodation Policy for more information.

How to Request Exam Accommodation

A request for exam accommodations must be submitted in writing to the CAMRT at the time of registration for the sitting that you wish to attend.  A new accommodation request and appropriate documentation must be submitted before EVERY exam attempt, including re-writes of the exam.

Please complete and submit the following to certification@camrt.ca:

  • Supporting documentation from a healthcare or counselling professional which:
    • indicates an assessment was done on you;
    • describes your current functional limitation;
    • supports the request for the specific accommodation(s)
  • Disability Information Form completed by a qualified professional within the past twelve (12) months AND/OR if applicable, documentation demonstrating that similar accommodations were provided to you during your MRT education program

Note: All medical documentation must be current within twelve (12) months of the date of application to write the exam. If the medical documentation, i.e. if the report or letter is not current within twelve (12) months of the date of the candidate’s application, the applicant must include a letter from a healthcare or counselling professional indicating that they have reviewed the supporting medical documentation and concur that the accommodations set out within it remain valid for the candidate for the purposes of the CAMRT certification exam on the date of the proposed sitting of the exam.

Deadline to Request Exam Accommodation

  • All required documentation must be received by the registration deadline for the exam you are requesting accommodations for.
  • Requests submitted after the deadline will not be considered. In cases of emergency or extenuating circumstances, CAMRT will make reasonable efforts to accommodate late requests but cannot guarantee approval.
  • Refer to your Registration Period for exact dates.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the forms submitted are clear and contain all the information we need to properly review your request and enact an exam accommodation(s) in a timely manner. All requests will be handled on a confidential and individual basis.

In making our decision, the CAMRT must ensure that granting the accommodation request will not compromise the validity and integrity of the certification exam.

Additional Requirements for Memory Aid Requests
