On this momentous day (November 8th) in 1895, German physicist William Roentgen discovered the radiation we know today as x-ray. Not long after Roentgen’s discovery, x-rays were being used for medical purposes, paving the way for the developments throughout the 20th century that brought into being the diverse fields of medical imaging and radiation therapy. And the spirit of discovery and progress that has embodied medical radiation technology from the very beginning 120 years ago lives on.
Today let’s celebrate this important occasion, the birth of medical radiation technology, and the celebrate the passionate professionals that keep this a vibrant field today and deliver this technology with care to patients around the world.
