Journal Academic Mentorship (JAM) Program

Journal Academic Mentorship (JAM) Program

About the program

There is a well-established publication gap in healthcare journals, with a persistent underrepresentation of women authors. This one-year pilot program aims to give support, advice, and encouragement to Canadian women with CAMRT membership who have research projects in development (transwomen and gender-diverse people welcomed). Mentees will be subsidized to attend the CAMRT conference in Victoria, BC, in May 2026, where they will deliver a short presentation. Goals for the project will be set by each mentor/mentee pair. Mentors, mentees, and the JAM steering committee will co-author a submission to the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences (JMIRS) to evaluate the program and share the results.

See the JAM Program Handbook for full details.

Call for Mentees

The JAM program is open to five (5) Canadian women who are CAMRT members. Mentees should have some prior research education (e.g. undergraduate research course, local clinical audits undertaken, etc.) and ideally have a project in progress that has not already been disseminated.

Mentee Application Form (deadline April 18th)

Call for Mentors

We are also calling for five (5) mentors. Where possible, mentors will be Canadian women with research and publication experience and a willingness to support novice researchers.

Mentor Application Form (deadline April 18th)

All mentors and mentees will be notified by May 5th. The first meeting of the group will take place on May 12th, with individual pairs setting their monthly meeting schedule. There will be several general education sessions held during the year.
