Innovative Leadership Award
The Innovative leadership award is presented to a member who has shown exceptional leadership qualities by pioneering innovative approaches within their field. This awards recipient demonstrates the ability to inspire and empower others, drives positive change and leads transformative initiatives, while also leading by example by demonstrating characteristics of respect, integrity and professionalism.
The 2025 recipient of the Innovative Leadership Award is Johanna McLean-Pineda, RTNM
Johanna has been a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for over 25 years. She has been fortunate to work at EFW Radiology in many different roles for almost her entire career. She is currently the Manager of NM, BMD and MRI programs. Johanna is celebrated for her exceptional leadership, rooted in integrity, innovation, and genuine care for her team. As a manager overseeing Nuclear Medicine, Bone Mineral Densitometry, and MRI, she has championed meaningful change — including the implementation of SonoReview and major equipment upgrades that improved workflow, scan quality, and patient experience. Her creative problem-solving was especially evident when she secured roles for newly hired technologists during a sudden clinic closure, preventing layoffs and supporting multiple departments. Johanna fosters professional growth, celebrates her staff, and contributes to community initiatives, embodying the thoughtful, forward-thinking leadership this award represents.
Professional Excellence in Patient Care Award
The CAMRT-AB Award for Professional Excellence in Patient Care is designed to a member who has consistently delivered exceptional care to patients, demonstrating dedication, empathy and skill in their practice. This awards recipient goes above and beyond in ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of their patients, embodying excellence in every aspect of patient interaction and care delivery.
The 2025 recipient of the CAMRT-AB Professional Excellence in Patient Care Award is Janessa Boisvert, RTT
Janessa is honoured for her exceptional compassion, professionalism, and dedication to patient-centred care. Known for her attentive and empathetic approach, she ensures every patient feels informed, respected, and supported during difficult moments. Her colleagues describe her as calm, trustworthy, and highly skilled — someone who consistently advocates for improvements in patient care protocols and evidence-based practice. Janessa also creates a positive and collaborative workplace by mentoring new staff and travelling therapists, helping them feel welcomed and confident. Her commitment to both patients and colleagues embodies the highest standards of care within the MRT profession.
Excellence in Teaching Award
The Excellence in Teaching Award is presented to a member who demonstrates outstanding contributions in enhancing the teaching and learning experience of MRT students during their educational program. The recipient of this award actively engages students within the academic and/or clinical environment, and consistently remains up to date with practice standards while ensuring students aspire to reach their full potential.
The 2025 recipient of the CAMRT-AB Excellence in Teaching Award is Jodie Piercey, RTNM.
Jodie is recognized for her outstanding dedication to teaching, her innovative approach to curriculum design, and her commitment to student success. Over her 12 years in the Nuclear Medicine program, she has transformed learning through updated assessments, flipped classrooms, and instructional lab videos that bridge theory and practice. Her calm, positive, and collaborative presence makes her a valued colleague and mentor, and students consistently acknowledge her through instructor excellence nominations. Beyond the classroom, she contributes to admissions, recruitment, strategic planning, and national exam development, all while staying current in emerging technologies. Jodie exemplifies excellence, leadership, and passion for advancing Nuclear Medicine education.
Young Professional Award
The Young Professional Award was created to honour a member who has made a significant contribution to the profession in the early stages of their career. The recipient of this award acts as a role model of social accountability and community engagement within the MRT community.
They also demonstrate an early and ongoing interest in the endeavours of MRTs.
The 2025 recipient of the Young Professional Award is Ariane Harpe, RTT.
Ariane is recognized for her remarkable leadership and initiative early in her career. During a period of significant staffing challenges, she provided stability and support to colleagues, acting managers, and travelling therapists — ensuring smooth operations and continuity of care. Her nominators praise her professionalism, adaptability, and collaborative approach. Ariane actively mentors peers and students, leads projects that enhance workflows and patient outcomes, and demonstrates a strong commitment to ongoing development through certifications and evidence-based practice. She exemplifies the passion, accountability, and forward-looking leadership that define the Young Professional Award.
Award for Academic Distinction
This award is presented to the graduate of an Alberta program who has filled both didactic and clinical requirements within the province, while maintaining CAMRT-AB membership. This award recipient has attained the highest score in Alberta on their initial attempt of the CAMRT certification exam for either their first or second discipline within the past year.

Congratulations to this year’s outstanding Nuclear Medicine graduate from SAIT, Alexandra Ensign, RTNM, who has earned the Academic Distinction Award for achieving the highest mark in Alberta on the CAMRT certification exam. This accomplishment reflects exceptional dedication, deep technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. A remarkable achievement and an inspiring start to a promising career in the profession.
