The Colin Maxwell Memorial Award was established in memory of the late Colin Maxwell, former department head of the Medical Radiological Technology Program at Red River College.  Colin  held many volunteer positions at both the Manitoba Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (MAMRT) and CAMRT levels; including President of both Associations prior to his untimely passing in 1987 at the age of 51.

This award is presented to an individual who shares Mr. Maxell’s dedication and professional characteristics.  Key to this was Colin’s support of all disciplines and his belief in the importance of being a Medical Radiation Technologist.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Current Full Practicing or Non-Practicing member in good standing with the CAMRT-MB
• Has the nominee volunteered with and/or demonstrated dedication to the CAMRT/CAMRT-MB or previously MAMRT?
• Has the nominee demonstrated support of all MRT disciplines?

The (Wm.) Bill Doern Service Award is one of the highest honours of CAMRT-MB.  This Award was instituted at the MAMRTs 50th anniversary in 1979 to honour Mr. William “Bill” Doern, a founding Member of the Manitoba Society of X-ray Technicians, formally the Manitoba Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.  Mr. Doern was an honoured Member both on the local and national level in technical and administrative leadership.  This award is meant to recognize not only excellence in the field of radiation technology, but also a technologists’ contribution to the community at large.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Current Full Practicing or Non-Practicing member in good standing with the CAMRT-MB
• Has the nominee made a significant contribution to the community at large?
• Has the nominee demonstrated excellence in the field of radiation technology through one or more of the following
  • Advocacy
  • Volunteerism
  • Mentoring
  • Patient Care
  • Education

This award is designed to honour a member of CAMRT-MB who has provided at an early stage in their career, inspiration and leadership to their colleagues by acting as a role model of professionalism and/or volunteerism.  This Award recognizes a Member who demonstrates outstanding achievement in any one of the following areas; clinical practice, advocacy, research and/or administration.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, candidates must meet the following criteria?

• Current Full Practicing or Non-Practicing member in good standing with the CAMRT-MB within the first ten (10) years of their career as an MRT
• Has the nominee acted as a role model of professionalism and/or volunteerism in one or more of the following:
  • Clinical Practice
  • Advocacy
  • Research
  • Administration
• Has the nominee provided inspiration and/or leadership that has the potential to influence the profession within Manitoba?
• Has the nominee influenced others towards higher levels of achievement and/or attainment?
• Has the nominee contributed to the development of innovative and patient-centered models of care?
• Has the nominee been involved in promoting the profession?
• Has the nominee been actively involved in CAMRT/CAMRT-MB or formally with MAMRT either by volunteering or participating in provincial and/or national MRT Events?

This award is presented to a team that has made significant contributions to the profession, their organization, or the quality of the patient experience in the health care setting.  This award recognizes a team that embraces quality service through collaboration and innovation.  In the context of this award, a “team” is a group of people who work together to deliver service and/or results and may include, but is not limited to, coworkers and peers within its organization and may be inter-professional.  Note* this award may be self-nominated.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, a team must meet the following criteria:

• At least one team Member must be a current Full Practicing or Non-Practicing Member in good standing with CAMRT-MB
• Has the team made a significant contribution in enhancing the reputation, service and/or credibility of the organization through one or more of the following:
  • Development of high efficiency and morale  within the team and/or organization
  • Public Education
  • Public outreach or volunteering
  • Patient care and experience
  • collaboration

This award was instituted to recognize the outstanding leadership of MAMRT Life Member Rita Eyer, who served in many positions of the MAMRT and CAMRT Board of Directors, including President of both Associations.  Rita also went on to serve as the Vice-President of the Americas Region with the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT).  Rita has been recognized both provincially and nationally for her leadership skills including: MAMRT Life Membership, CAMRT Life Membership, (Wm.) Doern Service Award (1988), Colin Maxwell Memorial Award (1993), Claude Bodle Memorial Lecture (1996).  This award is presented to an individual who best embodies passion and leadership within the MRT Profession.  This award is not only for managers and leaders, but for individuals who have earned the respect of their coworkers with their pioneering spirit and their willingness to push the envelope to better serve patients, coworkers and/or contribute to the success of their department and/or the reputation of the MRT profession.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Current Full Practicing or Non-Practicing Member in good standing with CAMRT-MB.
• Does the nominee demonstrate their exceptional contribution and leadership with one or more of the following:
  • Mentoring and teaching
  • Modelling best practices
  • Volunteering and community work
  • Leading a team to achieve exceptional results
  • Encouraging others to become involved as volunteers to build and strengthen the profession
• Is there evidence that the nominee is regarded as a true leader of the profession?

This award is presented to the graduate who obtained the highest standing in Manitoba (across all disciplines) on the National Certification Examination on their first exam write attempt.  This award is not nominated, and the recipient is identified for CAMRT-MB by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiological Technologists (CAMRT).   In the event of a tie, all recipients will be recognized.

To be eligible for recognition in this category, the recipient must be registered as a Student Member of CAMRT-MB at the time of writing their National Certification Examination.  Those not registered as Student Members will not be eligible for this award.
