CAMRT Advocacy | Provincial Managers in the Media

CAMRT is working hard to have the voices of MRTs heard wherever and whenever we can. More and more the media is listening. Yesterday, Sarah Erdelyi, RTR and Jennifer Carey, RTR were both interviewed by media outlets at opposite sides of the country.

Watch to Sarah Erdelyi discuss, CT scanner disruptions grow as B.C. medical imaging hangs by a thread, here: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/ct-scanner-disruptions-grow-as-b-c-medical-imaging-hangs-by-a-thread-1.6823901

Listen to Jennifer Carey speak about the drastic shortage of radiation therapists.

At my site we are being forced into a new schedule for permanent staff. This is to address the lack of anyone willing to work the night shifts. We’ve had 2 unfilled night positions for more than a year. The only staff they can make do night shifts are permanent staff so with the upcoming schedule all permanent staff will be doing night shifts. We’ve had no fewer than 5 permanent CT techs find work elsewhere since the announcement which leaves us severely understaffed. The new schedule is made for 18 staff we’ll probably have 10 ! I’ve been a tech for over 33 years and I can honestly say that my work schedules have only ever gotten worse than the ones that they replaced. I’m sorry to say that I would not recommend ct to potential students, very sad because it was a really great experience for me in the “old ” days.
